This is our first time in South Africa and we've already heard a lot about the great food here. We've received many tips. Nothing compares to the food we had here. The meat is cooked to perfection. The sauces are fantastic, and both the service and, above all, the owners round off the perfect evening. A huge thank for a perfect evening and the end to our trip. Be sure to come in and form your own opinion!!

What an amazing dining experience. From the cocktails to the desserts. We celebrated a special birthday, and Veldt definitely came to the party to make it a memorable night out. It is very hard to pick a favourite dish, the sharing platter allowed us to sample a couple of meats, but the starter brisket options are serious contenders. The cherry on top was our waiter, Norman, who made the evening extra special from the time we sat down. He made insightful recommendations from the wine list to each course. This restaurant is definitely worth visiting.
We had an amazing lunch celebrating my sister birthday at Veldt! The atmosphere is warm and stylish with a lovely mix of rustic charm and modern touches. Our waiter was fantastic — so friendly and knowledgeable, and took the time to explain the specials in great detail. We ordered the rump special medium rare, and wow — it was delicious! Perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and served with great sides. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the care that goes into each dish. From the service to the food and overall experience, everything was excellent.
Fabulous last dinner in South Africa before our trip home. Our family of six shared the meat platter for two plus a stew and about five sides and it was more than enough! The flavors were delicious! The atmosphere cozy. Would definitely recommend!
Wow, wow, wow! What an amazing experience! We drove all the way from the Northern Suburbs to experience this amazing evening! Owner was soooo welcoming and made us feel right at home! Our waiter Johnson treated us like we were special guests for the evening. Thank you Veldt for the amazing food and great experience! A must try! Be back soon!
An amazing meal!!! We had a braai broodtjie, the brisket bites, and the beef short ribs. Honestly all so tender and tasty. At first we thought we'd never finish it all, but nothing but clean plates in the end.
Lovely restaurant with great atmosphere and the smell of the charcoal grill. The food was absolutely epic, the kids had pork ribs which fell off the bone and me and the wife had the lamp pot which came in a small Dutch oven (Cast iron pot) with 2 home made bread rolls. It was delicious. Steve served us and he was also brilliant, super friendly and helpful, couldn’t have wished for better!
A lovely new addition to the local food scene! This recently established South African cuisine restaurant offers truly delicious dishes with the rich, authentic taste of wood-fired cooking. The traditional flavors shine through, especially on the leather touch à la carte menu — very original and enjoyable. The staff are kind and welcoming, though service could improve with a bit more attentiveness and speed. The tables are relatively small. A little tools shop is included. One thing to note: the wood fire aroma is strong — it adds charm to the experience, but it does cling to your clothes and hair. Still, the food makes it all worthwhile. A flavorful, true SA dining experience!
